Books Through Bars is an all-volunteer non-profit organization. We believe systemic social, educational, and economic inequality leads to relentless cycles of crime and mass incarceration. Our work aims to reverse the devastating effects that injustice and incarceration has on individuals, families and communities.
Learn more at: http://booksthroughbars.org The A-space Anarchist Social Center is a store-front space run by a volunteer collective that aims to facilitate anti-authoritarian social struggle as well as provide space for cultural events. We want to create a place for face-to-face interactions to take place beyond and against the systems that keep us separated, whether through art, organizing, food, or discussion.
Anyone organizing an event within the space is expected to ensure the event is not authoritarian, pro-state, capitalist, patriarchal, white supremacist, cissexist, ableist, or fall in line with any ideology that fosters domination. Additionally all individuals in the space are encouraged to take initiative to prevent and disrupt any of the above-mentioned behavior within the space. The a-space is a drug and alcohol-free space. People can get in touch with us through our email phillyaspace@gmail.com (email is the preferred method) or our Facebook page. |
